Acrylic painting versus watercolor painting

I painted the watercolor during the summer. It is about 15 by 22 inches. I just finished this acrylic for a one man show at the International House in Davis this December. It measures 30 by 40 inches on stretched canvas. Which one looks better or is it a case of comparing apples to oranges?

Hi David - I really like the second one... is that the acrylic? I enjoy your work!

I like the top one with the deeper greens the best, it captures the feeling of the sea.

I believe the top one is the watercolor and the bottom acrylic. They both are wonderful. I think like you said it's like comparing apples to oranges; neither is "better" and both are wonderful in their own ways.

Nancy, yep, the second one is acrylic. Thanks for weighing in on this.

Dianne, I like the top one as well with the greens. In fact, I added greens into my latest iteration of the acrylic that I most recently posted.

Carol, Yes, it is like comparing apples to oranges. I do, however, like the green in the water in the watercolor. In fact, I messed with the color in the water some more on the acrylic painting to make me feel as happy with it as I do with the watercolor painting.

I like both :) I also like the birds in the watercolors - adds a nice touch!
