Direct To You from Sunny California
This is a 5"X7" itsy bitsy watercolor painting I did last December. I used the last of my Manganese Blue for the sky. REAL Manganese blue, not the contemporary fake stuff. I'm so sad, but take heart, David!...they still make Opera.
Rhonda, If you put a watercolor up in an area where there is non-direct light, Opera may last 50 years instead of the normal 100 years or longer. I think 50 years is long enough.
That is really beautiful, it makes me want to go out and paint under my lemon tree! And you're right, that is a wonderful blue. It was not wasted, it is the perfect color with the oranges and their leaves.

Beautifully done, David. I checked it out close up and it is wonderful.
Glad you like this one, Carol. Stay warm.
really juicy orange....it pops off my screen!! Nothing like a home-grown CA orange,,,that is for sure.
BellĂsimas naranjas, David.
Love the beautiful variety of colors in green leaves and the oranges :)
Looks ready to pick and eat! Beautiful colors throughout. You use Opera? I've been told and read that it's very fugitive?
Nice light through this one. Love the deckled edges (unless I'm seeing wrong, always a possibility)!
Cynthia, Montse, and Meera, So glad you like my sweet succulent watercolor!

Autumn, you are seeing right...those are deckled edges cut with a pair of deckle scissors that I purchased from a scrap booking store.
I remember manganese from Ceramics - isn't that stuff poisonous? Looks great though!
Its gorgeous. My dream is to see oranges growing on a tree instead of on a supermarket shelf.
Evelyn, Yes! Toxic stuff. That's why they don't make it anymore, but it sure was a GREAT color!
Jeanette, Guess in your neck of the woods, there are not too many orange trees!
Hi David,
I know what you mean. That was my favorite colour in watercolour for what it did. This is a spectacular painting. Wonderful.
Ciao,
Barbara
