This is another acrylic painting on stretched canvas, 18"X32", that will be part of my two-man show in February. The way the light is falling on the trees makes no sense...but...it's art! Do I have to follow the laws of nature? ANSWER: No. I have just renewed my artistic license for 2012. The license fee went up, but what hasn't in this economy?

I couldn´t agree more....exercise that artistic license on those shadows and mud puddle flowers.
Have a great weekend.
Glad you renewed your license David, I just renewed my license to enjoy your art and your humour. I couldn't stand the thought of letting it expire. Great paintings of late as usual. I've been a bit busy.
Take care,
Barbara
ha ha glad you renewed your artistic licence because this is lovely.
Hi David, Happy New Year!! Hope you are well. I love this painting. Love the colors. You need to join us on facebook so everyone can see your lovely work. xo
I think this is a new favorite, David. You've captured the beauty of the forest here and I love the way the light falls. Light falls many ways in the forest, wherever it can break through!
Oh this is so fun! I'd have renewed your license too. You don't seem to be abusing it. Love that this is on a large canvas. It must be spectacular in person. Good luck with your exhibition!
So beautiful! Makes me think of a Midsummer Night's Dream.
Hi David--Was just scrolling down Ann Buckner's page and saw the little icon of this painting. Had to look. I've always liked art where you can see the artist's hand going within the style. Great work! I'm so glad you're not trying to be a camera. Wm
OH beautiful light and feel. I love this piece.
Thank you for weighing in on this everybody!...Cynthia, Barbara, Sue, Kathy.
Autumn, Yes!...you are correct, light can fall in different ways in a forest. Darn! I didn't have to renew my creative license...could have saved a few bucks.
Thanks Susan! I try never to abuse my license, and if I do, I destroy the evidence.
Marian, you're right, the painting is a little midsummer night's dreamish! How in the hell do you control the type font for your name!
William, the worst comment I could get is "your painting looks like a photograph". That's when I know to paint it over again!
Thanks so much Dominique and Prabha!
This is gorgeous and I agree with you about the light. Nature has a mind of its own. Congratulations on this one.
Thank you so much, Helen!

Thanks Shirupa, and I love your rooster painting!
