Completed Valentine
After glueing down some more "LOVES", painting on layers of opaque gouache around the watercolored heart, glueing down three cut out hearts, adding more layers of gouache, and finally blotting off some of the gouache for texture and to reveal previously painted areas, I have officially completed my Valentine! Happy Valentines early (and peace and love to the rest of my readers outside of the USA), and I'm ready to have fun in my January 22 workshop here in the fair city of Sacramento.

Great idea for my future Valentine card (i'll try to make a mini one). Best wishes for 2011, with PEACE & LOVE from Nice-France.
WEll I love this. I love all those loves and love how you were so loving in showing us how you lovingly glued all the loves down onto the lovely paper and all that lovliness of color....
A few comments for 2011 from your old sketching pal in Singapore! David - nice work, as always - you've really perfected those splashes and bright colors into many fine works, like this valentine! Have a great workshop - wish I could join you for a few painting/collage tips!
My drawing buddy, Buzz!!!!!! Good to hear from you, and I see ya gotta blog! I'm gonna check it out. You're looking snazzy and happy in your photo here. Wish I could be there sketching or painting with you and enjoying some of the fantastic cuisine in your neck of the woods. Happy and prosperous and rollicking good new year to you!
Feeling the love David- what a great idea. I may have to utilize the inspiration with no intention of taking it public on my blog. It looks like it was great fun to do. We have limited card stores here in our two and a half world island but your idea could save many a day and many a birthday too.
Kick the stuffing out of 011 as you've done in 010. Your comrade Bonnie.
An excellent design! This should guarantee a box of chocolates for you on valentines and maybe even a little peck on the lips from the beauty I trust you will give this to.
I love your verbal expertise, Comrade Bonnie! I will do my best with this year's stuffing extraction. I may even have a Blurb published book ready to sell in about a month.
/david, that's a lovely valentine card and quite something to live up to! Who does the printing for them? It must be a challenge to get the colors correct with the complexity. Happy 2011 and I hope you get some chocolate! Best, Doriene
