A NEW "SELF PORTRAIT GLOBAL LOVE IN" CALL FOR ART!!
A fellow artist who follows my blog, Bobbie Heath, USA, suggested that the next subject for my (our) "Self Portrait Global Love In" blog be a self portrait of the artist wearing a hat. Great idea except that I'd like to broaden the parameters to the following: YOUR SELF PORTRAIT WEARING A HAT, SCARF, BANDANA,TURBIN OR WHATEVER HEAD WEAR WORN IN YOUR PART OF THE GLOBE. ANY MEDIUM FROM TRADITIONAL TO DIGITAL AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. TWO DIMENSIONAL TO THREE DIMENSIONAL. DUE DATE TO GET YOUR ART TO ME WILL BE SEPTEMBER 12 (that's two full months and some change).
We need to expand the reach of the SPGLI (Self Portrait Global Love In)...if you are in touch with other artists living on different parts of our globe, let them know of our latest assignment.
This posted portrait is NOT me. It is a watercolor I painted a few months ago of a man dressed up to look like an Irish Leprechaun. He is wearing a very jaunty hat, indeed! No, this painting of mine is not qualified for the next assignment. I will be doing ME, David Lobenberg, USA, wearing a hat that I hope will give me a very rakish look!

I LOVE painting people wearing hats. I think I look stupid in a hat, so this will be a fun challenge. Thanks for getting the ball rolling!
LOL! Glad that isn't you, David! ha ha You would be a bit green around the gills!
Looking forward to the SP with covered head challenge and am going to pass the word.
Aw crap,
I was wearing a hat in the first one!
Oh well. I'll wear a different hat in this next one.
Hi David,
a hat eh? Okay -- I've got one that would be hard to paint.
Nice leprechaun, I just love St. Patrick's Day.
Take care,
Barbara
Myrna, I don't know if you look stupid in a hat but dollars to donuts, your self portrait of you in a hat is gonna look sick dude!
Rhonda, thanks for passing the word! Have fun with your SP.
Craig, Gotta put on your thinking cap now to figure how ya gonna top the cool one you did previously!
Barbara, Lookin forward to that!!
I am GREEN with envy how well you can paint these portraits no matter who they are.
David, I am thrilled that you liked the suggestion. Now I just have to go through my hat, scarf, and visor collection and figure out what to wear! I'll bet that will be easier than the actual painting.
Hi, I've got one. Just discovered your blog David. Do you have a post about submitting portraits? What format is best?
Kathy, Yes...but...I just finished a head study that took me four damn tries before I got a good one. It ain't always easy. I'll be posting all of them soon.
Have fun Bobbi, and thank you for the great suggestion!
Dustin, I have no parameters for files sent to me. I will probably rue this state of affairs one day. Just send me a file that's not huge or tiny- just an average file that won't take forever to upload onto the blog. How's that for specifics! Looking forward to seeing your SP!
David, I have finally settled on 800 pixels on the longest side for blog photos. They upload quickly and have good detail.
Mryna, Thank you!!!! For a woman older than dirt, ya sure do got ya technical shit together!
David, I am brand new to your blog (sent here from Sandy Maudlin's blog...and ain't she fine?) I love the portrait idea. Since I am brand new...before I send out the idea to other artists that I know, can you tell me how to post the art to you. Very specifically to what email address do we attach the art and do you have an specifics about size? You can reply to me at my email if you wish ginny.stiles@gmail.com. I have a blog and love watercolor and acrylic as well. ginnystiles.blogspot.com Drop by me sometime.
Ginny, Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, Sandy is a wonderful artist! Click ton the SP Global Love In on my blog roll. That is the 2nd blog I opened devoted to the Love In. Specifics for the next "challenge" is there. You The next deadline is Sept.12. Look forward to seeing your work!
