Values trumps Colors

Unless one can master seeing and painting values, one will struggle with colors. This is why I often do mono-chromatic studies (well, sometimes almost mono-chromatic) to keep me fit and trim.

Shaul, one of my talented art students at Sacramento City College  -  cool shades and top knot! I'm painting him on 140 cold press, 11 by 15 inches, and using left over palette paint from a previous painting. I'll post my "finish" soon.
