I followed my nose.

Yep, I followed my nose. A few posts ago (in October) I was at the stage in this watercolor when it was a relatively simple portrait of a young Hmong girl from Vietnam. I had no idea where to go with it next except to keep going and as my father used to say when he didn't want to look at a road map (remember those?), "I'll follow my nose". I followed my nose my working on it throughout October and this month . . . just a little bit each day or so.  My nose lead me to this final stage. Hope you like it dear readers.

David,
That is some kinda nose, keep a following. I think you are on to something good. There is some good stuff here combining for an excellent whole. You have painted a lot that I like but I think this is my favorite. Dimensions?

You took a nice portrait and made it something else - something more interesting, visually; something more exciting to see and think about. So I'd say, your nose knows!

Hi David,

It's fascinating where your nose took you. I like the abstract patterns combined with the face.
Intriguing work.

Bought a Mr. Clean eraser, and so far just went around cleaning up my woodwork, but it's there for the next time I do watercolour. It would probably work pretty well on acrylic too. It certainly took it off my walls.

Ciao,

Barbara

David,
Thanks for the answer, sorry another question, what surface? I thought you might have been influenced by Nicholas Simmons and gone extra large. Thinking that would be impressive also. I first saw it as large.

William, Not a large painting by a long shot. It's 15 by 20 inches on Arches 140lb. cold press.

Wow, I love this! I want to look at it over and over whereas the original I looked at it in scrolling mode, even though the original is great. This one is exciting.
