They didn't listen to me!
When I found out a few months ago that Southwest Art Magazine was going to print one of my paintings that I have in the Elliout Fouts Gallery here in Sacramento, I told them that if they ran it on the FRONT COVER, the magazine's subscription level would most likely double. Did they listen to me? NO!! Instead, they printed my painting on an inside page! (the current July issue). :-)
By the way, this acrylic on canvas is of a bridge that rotates to let tall boats or boats with tall masts exit or enter the slough. . You are seeing the Sacramento river in the foreground with the slough off beyond the bridge in the background.

Still and honor, David. It is a gorgeous painting!
It's even better David, that it's on the inside.
Do you have any idea how many thoughtless guests put coffee cups on magazines ( that's why they call it a coffee table ) causing permanently stained covers? Or dripping wine glasses?
Your work remains protected and buffered from the knocks of clods.
Congratulations for all of your recognition.
Well deserved.
Yeah, but if they had put my painting on the front cover, people would be begging for subscriptions...wouldn't they, Autumn?
Comrade Bonnie, Damn, if you haven't made a good point! I'm feeling better already! I even see a bluejay chirping away outside my studio window! Thank you!!
Hi David , Went to the gallery, The painting that got to me big time, I mean, brought back memories of me jumping off of it, The jiboom bridge. WOW. BAD-ASS....
By the way I got the magazine too...You Rock... WHOS THE DADDY
Dr. Finch (Roxy), You jumped off the Jiboom Street Bridge (in your younger days, I hope)???!!!! Now that's what I call bad- ass!! Stay off thoes bridges and keep on painting!!!! This is your daddy talkin.
Wow, two top magazine articles! Now I'll have to go out and get them both even though your painting isn't on the cover.
Bonnie Luria got me over the cover negativity. :-) It is indeed an exciting July for me despite all the economic challenges in this super stinko economy.
Still, congratulations! They probably didn't select it since the bridge is the center of interest, and it would have competed with the magazine title.
WOW! Snake eyes! You've got to be feeling mighty good this month! Your paintings are great and hopefully you get excellent feedback for the exposure! Maybe next month your work will be published again in American Art Collector under SOLD!
How are you doing Ed T.? That must be it!...my bridge would distract the reader from the title of the magazine they are reading, and
therefore the subscription rate would go down instead of up! One of the most hilarious things I have ever read on an art blog was your story of taking a sip out of your "water" bottle only to find out the "water" was turp! We are all so glad you are still kickin and paintin!
Terri, wouldn't that be sweet!
David--
The dream of all artists is to be able to sell their paintings. The other dream is to see them in print as you did here. Love your work. You are an inspiration.
Congrats on the magazine printing of your painting! Nice recognition on the sell.
wow :) congratulations again!!!
Thank you, Terry!
Danke, Meera and Susan!
