In an earlier post, I wrote about three Sacramento artists who were invited to take a trip up the Sacramento River on an old Chris Craft. We sketched and snapped reference photos for future paintings that will be in a show and sale at Archival Framing and Gallery here in town. I just completed these two acrylics, both on stretched canvases. The two waders painting is 24"X30" and Highway 50 crossing the Sacramento River (just south of downtown Sacramento) is 12"X16".

Highway 50 just pulls your eye right into it. The light and lights and darks just shimmer. So beautiful.
The Waders are just as wonderful.
Nice way of focusing on the figures without losing them to the grandness of that tree.
These are just great, David.
Ah to be able to take a class with you........
Hey NYC/St.C artist...thankyou! I'm going to check with my art supply store tomorrow to see if the Golden super slow drying acrylics have arrived. I want to try them out big time, and post the results on my blog. Viva acrylic!!
Love your paintings. The scenery looks so nice and cool.
Paz
Cool bridge painting; the color of the truck is a nice touch!
My kingdom for a dip in these water! It's hot here. Real hot.
Both paintings are wonderfully loose, and I love the dialogue between the two guys. "Whaddaya mean you forgot the 6-pack!?".
I like the waders piece, David. Just right for a hot day.
Thanks Paz! Sure enjoy the glimpses of the Big Apple I get off your blog.
Thank, Leslie, you hippo nut!
Nava: You read lips! Thanks for stopping by.
Onpainting: You and Nava are digging the cool water because it's been f.. king hot lately here in Calif!..both north and south.
Lovely. Particularly like the watercolour birds down below as well.
Thanks Clive. I'm repainting the dead tree in the waders painting.
Stay tuned.
I really dig that freeway bridge!
David- have you tried the slow drying acrylics yet? I'll be eager to read your comments.
I just bought oils and am playing with them again after umpteen years.
Maybe will have something post-worthy soon.
Hmm you called it a dead tree. I thought it prevented it from taking over the painting! So what do any of us know except perception is as individual as fingerprints.
Tony: Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you like this one. I'm still in the process of doing some minor tweeks. I hope I don't kill it. Love your urban paintings!
