I Hated The Mexican Hat Dance!

Remember folk dancing in early grade school? Do they still do that? One of the dances was "The Mexican Hat Dance"...great piece of music, but you had to dance with A GIRL...and...your dancing sucked (still does!). NOT FUN! This weekend I went to a charity event, and they had some Mexican folk dancers. They were great, and I bet they loved dancing as children as I loved to paint and draw. Viva "The Mexican Hat Dance"!! This is my fifth of six full sheet watercolors that will go into the booths at The Three Sisters Restaurant here in beautiful Sacramento.

Dancing with a GIRL!? Ewwwwwwwwww!

I think this is my favorite so far. You've achieved some incredible movement in this one, brush strokes that present enough energy to move California, absolutely fun colors, and above all - that glorious glowing purple! mmmmm... purple!!

(nice touches with the crayons, btw!

You may have hated the dance but it didn't affect your ability to capture the swirl of the skirts and the earring in motion.

Really nice work again David.

Will yours be the only artwork in the restaurant?

Three Sisters is fortunate to have these wonderful watercolors. Very festive in color and joy level and splash. I predict their business increases.

Thanks Nava. Yea, purple is a great color and the owner of the restaurant was pretty wowed with her purple skirt too.

Bonnie: I was told yesterday that the three sisters (yes, the two Three Sisters Restaurants are owned and operated by three sisters) are opening a third restaurant, and they want my work in that one as well...yum!

Bonnie: Forgot to answer your question. Yes, only Lobenbergs in the restaurant. You can call me comrade...and...Senior Lobenberg.

Mona: Let's hope the art adds to the restaurant's business and mine as well. Thanks for the kind words.

This is wonderful as is Baby sister, such great colors and a festive feel. I know they will look wonderful when they arrive in their new home.

Put down that brush and get out there with them.

You could take this genre from Mexican Restaurant to Mexican Restaurant - you will be known as the bean man painter.

I like the movement and color - just like a kid I suppose.

Thank you so much, Barbara. I'll be working on the final and 6th painting next week.

Onpainting: I tried to swing a similar deal with my local Chinese restaurant, but they need to spend the money on their heating and air conditioning system...the bastards!

Senior, or Senor Lobenberg- at this fantastic rate, you just may garner or garnish your own listing in Zagat Guide.

How very flattering to be the only artist represented there.

Comrade Bonnie: I googled Zagat Guide. Now I know what it is. Gracias!

Just love this painting for the vivid colours, the suggestion of sunlight and the joy that comes through. Have you posted the rest of the series as well? Would love to see those too!
