Just for the fun of it.

In my pen and ink art class that I teach at Sacramento City College, we studied the work of illustrator Ralph Steadman of "Fear and Loathing in Ls Vegas fame. I took out my crow quill pen and bottle of ink and did a demo. Had no idea how my effort was going to turn out, but I had fun doing it. Oh, and I also used the tip of my fore finger for the dark areas in the hair, face, and around the beard.

The Palette Magazine - I'm in it!

A few posts back, I talked about being asked to participate in a three-artist watercolor portrait painting exhibition in Santa Rosa, California. The other two (marvelous) painters were Christopher Schink with his geometric style and Myrna Wacknov with her multi-media style. We had two hours to paint the model Juanita (with a parrot on her shoulder). She held a smile in twenty minute increments fro the entire posing time! I was taken with that vibrant smile and georgeous black curly hair,. Indeed, that is what I focused on. The demo took place in February. It was so exciting to paint with two great artists while an audience of watercolor enthusiasts looked on. Just as exciting was to be included in an article about this event in the latest issue of The Palette Magazine!
