Latest portrait: a PBS personality based here in Sacramento

This is Rob Stewart, a PBS television personality. Here in Sacramento, he hosts "Rob On The Road". This watercolor painting will be added to my other PBS portraits that hang in the visitor's center at Sacramento's PBS station KVIE. He is an energetic person who has a great deal of empathy and genuine interest for whomever he interviews. I hope that I have captured his character with my color palette, cropping, brushwork, and paint scrubbing. This watercolor was painted on a 140 pound sheet of cold press Arches watercolor paper. It measures 14 by 18 inches.

Yeah, I know that beautiful smile ;-)
I'm SO Glad the 2 of you finally got together..
May I ask...is this your Final version or one of your many different versions ? I never want to "assume."
...and I know how much fun and how wonderful you various versions can be.... So, just curious ...

Looking forward to getting my brushes wet again soon.
Thanx for being such a GR8 Teacher and Inspiration.

in gratitude,
Nelcha

Wonderful use of color and overlays. It's nice to know what you are doing and be able to teach others how to do it too. I don't quite know what I'm doing in portraiture with oils, but I like it (I think) and this guy looks like I'd like him too if this Midwestern gal knew who he was. I do not, but I do know PBS and its topnotch programming.Beautiful work.

L.W., Thank you as always for your comment. Yep, he's a top notch dude with a super warm personality. I like your word "overlays". I'll have to steal that description from you!

Anonymous, I like this one, indeed, but if I get some more time in the future, I wouldn't mind doing another study. Thanks for weighing in on my effort here!

Gorgeous painting. I love the little slices of colour in unexpected places. Don't know how you did that in watercolour. Super work.

Ciao,

Barbara

I love this. The colors really enhance the vibrant personality. I've seen your mono-color portraits also and am impressed that you have the talent to convey vibrancy even with just Payne's Gray. You're excellent about capturing each person's special expressions.
