Sun On The Rails

I go up to the rail road tracks just outside my old studio location about a mile away from my present studio to see what's shaking there. This was shaking at sunset. Acrylic (is there no better medium then this!!!) on stretched canvas.

    Wow amazing! And I love the movie too, but have been insane getting ready for a group show in New York. I'm in New York as I write this thinking this painting should be here too, and the incredible artist who painted it!

    I like how you have captured the dark at sunset ! Beautiful texture too. I take a new interest in acrylics now since I just inherited a bunch of canvases and acrylic paints from a dear friend. Do you have any tips/advice for watercolorist trying acrylics for the first time? Thanks in advance :)

    Your colors are just so right. I have a hard time with the colors drying darker when I use acrylics and sometimes it is hit or miss. Do you have any suggestions? Do you use a special brand?

    Meera, Being a watercolorist myself, I can tell you to start your paintings with somewhat thin paint. Once you've your corrections and any changes and like what's going on, you can thicken up to your hearts content.

    Maria, being a long time watercolorist where one's colors dry lighter, I have no problem with acrylics drying darker! Anyway, if a color is too dark, within a matter of minutes, I can lighten it. I LOVE acrylic paint!

    Beautiful painting. Railway paintings always have such a nostalgia to them. The effect of the sun peeping from under the clouds is great.
